The Similarities.
Boxers, like golfers, generate their power from the ground up. The power you generate from a punch starts from the feet, goes to the hips, to the core, then to the shoulders. Like a golf swing, punching without using this sequence results in an underdeveloped and undesirable punch.
Why Try Boxing Training?
Why not try boxing training? If you want to partake in a fitness workout that gets you in great shape while using the same muscles and sequencing of muscles that are used in a golf swing, then this workout will benefit you! You will generate lots of power and improve your overall conditioning that will carryover to the golf course.
How the Workout Generates Power.
When hitting the bags in a boxing workout, there is only one way to use them; that’s with a lot of intended force. In other words: power. The heavy bag, punch mitts, double end bag, and speed bag assure that you develop that much needed ability.
Once you learn how to punch correctly (generating power from the ground up) you move the bags with a lot of force. Coordinating the feet (ankles), hips, core, and shoulders while getting in great shape on top of it is a lot of bang for your buck from a workout.
Who would of thought that a boxing workout could help generate more power for your golf swing? Without having an open mind, not many. Many golfers are missing out on some amazing cross training, including you!
