Martial Arts In The North East

In Brazilian Jiu Jitsu techniques the North South position is similar to side mount. In this north south technique one can easily move into this position when one is in the side mount position and the opponent tries to bring their legs underneath. Numerous submissions can be applied from the north south position. By holding the opponents belt, it makes it hard for them to turn underneath. It is suggested to keep the opponents hips pinned to the ground. With this variation of north south position one has to simply bring the knees up. The knees have to be kept apart to maintain a good base; this prevents the opponent from rolling off.

Yet another transition of north south position is the Pillow Choke or Arm Triangle from North/South. Here, the opponent's starting position is, lying on back on the floor. In this position, one is over the opponent in North/South position in which the opponent is hugging around. In order to gain this position of north south one should be able to trap the arm across the opponents neck. The opponent can be trapped with upper armpit with adequate muscle pressure while trying to escape. Toe hold from north and south is yet another position in which the opponent is held from the north south by lying on the back. In this position the left leg of the opponent is attacked with a dive between legs and scoop under left Achilles heel with the help of left elbow.
